Why Using A Compression Joint Is Important

One thing to keep in mind when it comes to installing Longboard® Tongue & Groove siding is that it is crucial to take certain precautions to make sure your investment in this high-quality product lasts for years to come.

A vital step in the installation process is the use of a compression joint. This particular joint is essential because it allows for the natural expansion and contraction of the boards as temperature and humidity levels fluctuate over time. Without a compression joint, the boards may be more susceptible to buckling, warping, and even potentially causing damage or failure to the entire siding installation.

The process of creating a compression joint involves leaving a small gap between the end of each board and compressing a flexible, water-resistant material such as a high-quality sealant or a backer rod into the gap. This way, the boards are free to move slightly without compromising the siding’s overall integrity.

Thus, it is highly recommended to use a compression joint during the installation process to ensure that your Longboard Tongue & Groove siding looks stunning and remains strong for many years to come.
